Expo Etc...
Ceux qui ont la patience de suivre un peu ce qui se passe sur ce blog malgré mes longs silences auront remarqué l'apparition d'un album photo de pastels. Eh oui j'ai fait une expo! En toute logique, j'aurais du faire de la pub ici avant l'expo, au lieu d'attendre un mois après le décrochage, mais comme d'hab, j'ai été vite débordée.
C'est mon amie Marie-Lydie qui m'a plus ou moins forcé la main pour prendre le créneau du mois de mars à Epidaure. Ce centre d'information sur le cancer accueille chaque mois un artiste différent. Il peut s'agir bien sur de peinture, de photo, mais aussi d'autres techniques artistiques.
C'était ma première expo en solo en France et je me suis régalé. J'ai décidé d'avoir un thème, et d'exposer du nouveau. J'avais 4 mois. Le temps de retrouver l'inspiration et surtout m'organiser du temps pour le faire, j'ai du produire mes 13 oeuvres en 2 mois, c'était chaud. Mais j'y suis arrivée.
Je ne suis pas allé chercher loin pour le thème, ni pour les modèles d'ailleurs. Je recommande aux futures mamans de faire une scéance photo dans les derniers mois. Ca fait de beaux souvenirs. Et pour répondre à la question que tout le monde m'a posé: non je n'ai pas dessiné tout ça pendant ma grossesse, mais bien après.
Entre autre, mon expo a été listée par la Gazette de Montpellier et Coming'up. La Gazette avait même demandé une photo... mais le jour venu, déception, pas de photo dans l'encadré. Juste l'emplacement encore marqué, montrant qu'ils avaient quand même considéré la mettre. J'ai quand même eu une trentaine de personnes à mon vernissage dont quelques artistes que je ne connaissais pas. Et j'ai vendu 2 pastels (oui bon, un à mon papa et l'autre a son bon copain, mais c'est un début).

les petites choses
Dimanche dernier, nous avons visité le marché annuel de la création, aux Matelles. On y trouve toutes sortes d'artistes et artisans. Les stands hauts en couleur longent les petites rues piétonne de ce village médiéval plein de charme. Et au détour d'un chemin, je me retrouve devant une table pleine de savons a la lavande et au lait de chèvre. Les savons soit-disant artisanaux, on en trouve sur la plupart des marchés ces jours-ci. Mais ceux la avaient vraiment l'apparence de savons fait maison. J'ai commencé a discuter un peu avec l'artisane, mais elle s'est vite fait accaparer par des clients, et comme je commencais a fatiguer, j'ai renoncé à attendre. L'idée d'ouvrir une fabrique de savons naturels me trotte dans la tête depuis un moment. Mais pour le moment je n'ai pas le courage de m'attaquer aux montagnes administratives et financières liées a la création d'une telle entreprise. Proposer de faire des pages web en free lance me parait plus abordable pour le moment. 
Tout ca pour en arriver a une petite page de pub pour une jeune maman de mon entourage qui a relevé le défi de la création d'entreprise. "Les petites choses", c'est une ligne de vêtements pour enfants vendus uniquement en ligne. Le site a ouvert depuis peu. Pour l'instant, il propose une série de T-shirts hyper mignons, et on espère que la collection va grandir. En tout cas, bravo Mélissa, et bonne chance pour la suite. J'aurai bientôt un petit client pour toi.

homemade presents
I always enjoyed giving self-made presents, but with a time consuming job and too many additional activities it had been a long time since my last creation.
Now is the perfect timing to start again making things with my little fingers. No money to buy fancy presents, but whole days with not much to do except struggle with my home page design.
Of course when I started making soap, everybody was warned they would not escape it. But why stop with only one type of products? Ideas do not come that easily, but practice boosts the inspiration. A month ago I was invited to the "pagan baptism" of a little boy. For my birthday, his mom had given me a beautiful set of wine glasses she had herself painted. I wanted to bring a homemade present for the kid, but couldn't come up with any idea, at least not in time. In the meantime, I started working on my wedding dress. Being drowned part of the day in my collection of sewing things, including leftover fabrics, ideas started to come naturally for the next baby presents in the line. Wall pockets with the baby name painted on, a handbag for the bigger sister.
Presents for girls of all ages are easy enough to find. Beauty products, african beads necklaces, bags. The everlasting problem remains: what to give a grown up man? I suppose I should start browsing through recipes as shaving gels and such. Any ideas are welcome. In the meantime, tea tree or ylang ylang scented soap will have to do :)

Quick planned wedding
I was writing a long entry about making african necklaces, but the computer crashed as I was about to send. Of course. I don't really feel like rewriting the whole thing just now, so today you'll read about wedding instead, and maybe next time I'll go back to the glass beads.
Among my current crafting projects is making a wedding dress. Not an easy task considering my increasing belly size. It not only slows me down, but also makes the choice of a pattern and fabric more complicated. I wanted a nice green covered with transparent white, both stretch fabrics, to make a simple straight dress. But for some reason, all the stretch fabrics were either black or white, or a very flashy colors. And the transparent ones all had patterns such as "mondial 2006", no I'm not having a football themed wedding. I finally decided to combine some white, very elastic lycra with a nice metallic green fabric that would not stretch one millimeter above its size. I'll just have to use the green for those parts that won't grow much in the next few weeks.
Since the design was becoming a bit more complex, I needed a pattern. Dress patterns made specially for pregnant women are few and the item usually makes you look like a sack of potatoes. I decided instead to use an old Burda pattern, actually the only one I possess, from which I made an evening gown to attend the medical school gala in Turku a few years ago. The high waistline suits my condition, and since I havn't been sewing cloths for a while, it helps that I am familiar with that model. Let's just hope that my danish/swedish is still ok, since the only alternative in the instructions would be finnish.
A wedding dress? Yes, I'm getting married. Hopefully in about a month, if we manage to gather all the papers required by the french administration, especially the ones that the lady at the office forgot to tell about when I first went to ask. Medical certificates less than 2 month old. Birth certificates less than 3 month old (I wonder what would change) and the british one translated by an official translator, of which there is only one in town. A "certificate of law" telling that a british citizen can get married without his parents consent if he's over 18... where's *Europe* in all this?
Anyway, 3rd of June seems to get real now. A civil wedding, a casual picnic at the river with friends, and a family diner at home are the plans for that day. The church wedding and big party will have to wait a bit, until our purse gets fatter and my belly smaller.
